Religious Education Classes

Hello, I’m happy to open registration for all our religious education classes for 2024-25.  All our classes will start in September, however we do have some day and time changes so please read this form carefully.  As always, all our classes are completely free.  Please register online on our website or in person at the Parish Office. Catechism: We have catechism classes for first grade through seventh grade.  These classes are held at the Parish School on Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.  The first class will be on September 11, 2024.  Students who are in third grade or above may prepare for their First Confessions and First Holy Communions.  Father Larry sets the days for these sacraments and the actual day they will be received will be announced as soon as I have them.  It is usually after Easter, so late April or Early May. RCIA for children:  Any child or teen who needs baptism, first confession, First Holy Communion, or confirmation can enter into our RCIA program for children. They will attend the regular religious education class with their peers but may also receive private lessons for the particular sacraments they are in need of with the religious education director, Catherine Kleinjan.  These class times will be set individually upon need.  The students may receive their Sacraments and join the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil on April 19, 2024.  Click here for more information.  Click here to register.

 

Confirmation for Teens:  Due to the Archdiocese policy, our confirmation program is two years.  In order to enter the student must be in 8th grade through 11th grade.  The first class for both years is on September 15, 2024.  We will meet about twice a month for a two hour class.   The bishop sets the day of the actual confirmation mass, usually sometime after Easter.  I’ll let you know when it will be as soon as I find out. Lastly, Year 2 candidates do NOT need to fill out another registration form unless something has changed.  In that case, please let us know about it and we can update the information in our files. Confirmation for Catholic Adults:  For those adults who are 19 or older, already been baptized, made their First Holy Communion, and are single or married in the church, we have an adult confirmation class. The adult confirmation class will meet on Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The first class is on September 10, 2024. The confirmation mass will be on October 26, 2024 with Archbishop Wester at the Cathedral at 1:00 p.m.    Click here form more information.  Click here to register. 

 

If someone is catholic but lacks any of the sacraments besides confirmation and wants to work towards them, please contact me, and we can discuss the best strategy for your particular case.  (Catherine Kleinjan 505-577-0102 or Stannesccd@gmail.com)  There will be another opportunity for adult confirmation in the spring.

 RCIA: This class is for adults who are interested in joining the Catholic Church.  This class is for those who were not baptized Catholic, persons who were baptized catholic but did not receive any other sacraments, or anyone who simply is interested in learning more about the Catholic faith.   These classes will be held on Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30 p.m.  The first class will be on September 10, 2024.  The students who decide to join the Catholic Church will receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation at the Easter Vigil on April 19, 2024.  We will also help anyone with Catholic marriages and the Sacrament of Confession. Religious Education for Adults:  We have an adult class/Bible study on Friday mornings after the 8:00 a.m. mass. The classes are held in the school and all are welcome.  These classes will resume on August 9, 2024.  There is no need to register, just join in when you are available.  This is an on-going class.  Click here for more information.
